Beg for it

So I've decided that Ain't Too Proud To Beg needs to be covered as a Blues song.

The song is such a classic (and for good reason) that it may be hard to imagine it any other way, but the lyrics just seem so much more suited to Blues.

I can't figure out the phrasing (mainly because I can't figure out what rhythm I would use) but I want the guy at the end of his rope. Instead of singing from a happy place in the relationship where he's talking about all the stuff he'd do for his woman, I want him desperate for her. He's begging, right?

Does that make sense? I'm saying the "motivation" is different. It's not like he's out in the park with his lady and thinks, "This is wonderful. She's wonderful. I'd do anything to keep her."

I'm talking about her bags are packed, she's getting in the car, my man is at The End. He's thinking, "This is terrible. She's wonderful. I'd do anything to keep her."

See?

Maybe I can ask this talented singer I know for some advice on how a blues song is phrased versus the Temps' version.

It's not what you know, but knowing what and whom to ask.
